a washington coast wedding

August seems to be the month of weddings this year!

This past weekend, I headed to the Washington coast to the adorable little beach village of Seabrook. The fairly new town, established in 2004, has homes with white picket fences, weathered shingle siding, and the most charming ocean themed details.IMG_2516IMG_2546IMG_2517

In college, one of my closest friends would invite a group to escape the city for a weekend to bask in the sun and wiggle our toes in the sand, while staying at her family’s beach house. We had a couple unforgettable weekends where we packed overnight bags, stocked up on food from Costco, put our feet in the frigid Pacific Ocean, drank a little too much wine, and laughed a lot. I know that my friend carried special memories with both friends and family at Seabrook through the years.

When her boyfriend proposed (in a field of lavender!), it came as little surprise that they decided to celebrate their most special day in a place so close to her heart. It definitely doesn’t hurt that Seabrook provides an awesome backdrop for pictures, whether you choose to be down on the sand near the water, up on the bluffs overlooking the beach, or amongst the cute houses in town.IMG_2523

After saying the most lovely vows in front of their family and friends, the high school sweethearts shared a kiss and became Mr. and Mrs. We all cheered and threw lavender as the happy couple returned hand in hand down the aisle, before heading over for drinks, dinner, and dancing at the Town Hall.IMG_2527

I loved how the couple incorporated lavender throughout the evening, as a nod to where they got engaged. The bride and her maids carried bundles of the fragrant flowers while the groom and his men had boutonnieres to match. With lavender in the centerpieces and reception decor, the entire celebration smelled amazing. Lavender is said to be a symbol of love, devotion, grace, and serenity – all perfect wishes for newlyweds. IMG_2551IMG_2558IMG_2549IMG_2545

I was honored to have been invited to the beautiful celebration. There is something so special about seeing the love between two people grow as they move through different stages of their lives.

Here’s to years and years of happiness and love! xo.
